Serpentine Pavilion 2014 under construction

Some photographs of the Serpentine Pavilion 2014 under construction. This year's pavilion is designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radic and is the 14th pavilion in the series. It opens on the 26th June until 19th October 2014 and is situated on the edge of Kensington Gardens beside Hyde Park.

The design takes inspiration from the stone age with four large rocks providing the foundation for a curved translucent fibreglass structure, housing a part shaded, part open sunken public space. The rocks being reminiscent of the Stonehenge structures, propping up the curved structure will be accessible to the public and provide views out across the park. The translucent panels fix together to allow natural light into the central spaces during daytime and then in the evening provide a soft glow floating above the surrounding landscape.
